Due:

Extra Credit: Collage of 2024 Election Cycle in Google Classroom

Extra Credit: Collage of 2024 Election Cycle

2024 is one of the best years to be a civics/political science student. There has been no end to the political drama, theater, and horse race coverage. Regardless of your personal beliefs, it is important as a historian to observe how events unfold with a bird's eye view when possible.

For 5% extra credit, you can make a collage of the election cycle and how it unfolds, leading to Election Day in November.

The collage must include one picture per week, starting from the beginning of July and ending in November after election day. Each picture must have a caption giving context to the image and answer the question "What impact did the subject of your photo impact the election cycle, people, or the beliefs/sentiments that people have?"

The collage can be done on presenting paper or poster board. Make sure it has a professional/creative title.

Due:

(Extra Credit) 11/28: Look up the top issues voters cared about in the election assigned to your table. Name me one of the top issues you found, the percentage of voters that named it their priority, and find me an explanation why that issue is prevalent in that year. in Google Classroom

(Extra Credit) 11/28: Look up the top issues voters cared about in the election assigned to your table. Name me one of the top issues you found, the percentage of voters that named it their priority, and find me an explanation why that issue is prevalent in that year.

Example:
In 1988, one of the biggest topics voters were focused on was the welfare system provided by the U.S. Federal Government. Nearly 71% of voters in a Pew Research Poll said that the government should care for people who cannot care for themselves. A reason why this was one of the top issues was that the economy crashed that year on a day called Black Monday. A lot of people lost jobs and money, so this may explain why a lot of voters were looking for support from the government through welfare.

For this warm-up, you should be finding the opinions of voters. This can be found by looking at polling or articles from the year given to you. I recommend looking up something along the lines of "Top Voter Concerns in ___", "Top Election Issues In ____", "What Americans care about in the _____ election".
